Google Meet will impose a time limit of 60 minutes on group video calls for free users.

For free users, Google Meet will now impose a 60-minute time limit on group video chats. When the video calling service was made accessible to all users rather than only Enterprise or Education clients last year, there was no time limit on calls for any number of participants. Google had stated that it will impose a 60-minute time limit on group video chats, but the date was repeatedly extended due to the coronavirus epidemic. However, the time limit still applies only to calls with three or more participants, and one-on-one video conversations are exempt from this restriction.

To hold limitless group video conversations with three or more people, Google Workspace users will now need to subscribe to a premium account. Google Meet's guidelines have been modified to state that free Gmail users can now hold a group call with three or more participants for no more than 60 minutes at a time. The revised guidelines are also available on the Google Meet Help page. "Everyone receives a message that the call is about to terminate at 55 minutes. The host can upgrade their Google account to extend the call. Otherwise, the call will be terminated after 60 minutes "According to the standards. The new Google Meet restrictions were first reported by 9to5Google.

As previously stated, the change in Google Meet standards does not affect users on one-on-one conversations, but only users on group calls. And, while generating a new Google Meet link is a simple job, it simply adds another step to the dialogue.

When Google Meet became available to all users in April 2020, Google indicated that meeting times will be limited to 60 minutes beginning in September 2020. However, Google then extended the date for unlimited free calls until March, and the most recent deadline was set as June 30.

Users may also upgrade to participate in limitless group calls, according to the Google Meet Help page. The Google Workspace Individual tier has recently been launched at $9.99 (about Rs. 745) per month in the United States. If the meeting hosts upgrade to this plan, the calls can last longer than the allotted 60 minutes.
