Reservations for Ola Scooters start at Rs. 499 ahead of the official launch of the electric scooter.

Ola Electric Mobility officially launched reservations for its anticipated electric scooter, the Ola Scooter, on Thursday, with a refundable deposit of Rs. 499. Those who reserve will receive priority delivery, according to the firm. The vehicle's specific debut date has yet to be announced. However, sources tell Gadgets 360 that it will be released later this month. Ola Electric and Bank of Baroda inked a 10-year debt financing deal for $100 million (approximately Rs. 745.50 crores) earlier this week to support phase 1 of the Ola Futurefactory, the company's production center for its electric two-wheelers.

Reservations for the Ola Scooter are now available on the Ola Electric site. However, the firm has not disclosed the precise pricing. The reservation website had a rocky start, with many users, including us, experiencing access problems, but things look to be back on track today.

“India's EV revolution begins today with the opening of reservations for our electric scooter, the first in a series of future EVs. “With its outstanding performance, technology, and design, as well as competitive price, it will help speed the shift to sustainable mobility,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Group CEO of Ola, in a prepared statement.

Ola began its road toward manufacturing electric scooters in India in December 2018 by investing $100 million (Rs. 745.50 crores) in local company Vogo. In 2019, the cab company split out its electric vehicle (EV) venture, Ola Electric, and established a foothold in Bengaluru. Last year, the EV firm announced an Rs. 2,400 crore investment in its Tamil Nadu electric scooter facility. The plant, which bills itself as the world's largest e-scooter manufacturing facility, claims to create electric scooters every two seconds.

In April, Ola Electric announced the creation of the Ola Hypercharger Network, which is billed as the world's largest and densest two-wheeler charging network, with 100,000 high-speed charging ports in over 400 Indian cities. It is expected to assist in the establishment of 5,000 points in 100 cities in the first year.
